Biography

Lia Fallah was born in Shiraz-Iran in March/1996. She spent 13years in Karaj growing up and moved to Vancouver -Canada in 2011 with her family. The name “Lia” means - A person who brings good news and its has Latin roots. She is currently Miss Vancouver World 2017 title holder and working towards brining awareness and making a change about Mental Health & Immigration.


Sports

Ever since she was young she loved the idea of “Competition” because to her competitions are a form of challenge in which she can grow more and improve her capability. Lia joined multiple sports starting in elementary school : She did gymnastics for 5 years, Basketball for 3 years and swimming for 2years. She has won 2silver medals for gymnastics and one gold medal for Basketball. At the age of 14 she joined NinJutsu- Martial Arts classes which she then continued with a similar class, Kickboxing, in Canada at The Champions in North Vancouver, currently holding a high-orange belt .


Music

She started music at the age of 9 with Keyboard. Then after about 4years she began learning Guitar and Piano in which Her first Piano recital was in Vancouver-Canada with Mrs.********** in 2012.


Theatre

At the age of 8 she played in a couple musical theatre projects in which her mom, Zohreh Aramian, wrote and directed. These plays were meant for elementary school students as a field trip. Since Lia already had experienced gymnastics and music, combining the two together was not challenging at all; however, it was then when she found her passion for stage work. Therefore, she took theatre more seriously and participated at different workshops. In grade 5, she lead the Theatre Group at her elementary school with her friends and performed one of her Mom’s play named - The Storyteller Mermaid. It was not hard for teachers to see Lia’s passion for leadership, directing and helping her school community. She received the top leadership student award in middle school. In grade 8, She ran for School’s board of students election and became the leader/director of the Board Members. She started a Music class at her middle school and helped students with a passion for music to perform in front of the entire school.


Education

Lia moved back to Shiraz, where she was born, in grade 9 and only studied for 3months before she moved to Canada in late December - early January 2010-2011. Finished High school at Gleneagle Secondary School in Coquitlam (class 2014) and currently a second year theatre student at Simon Fraser University.


In Canada

After moving to Canada Lia faced many challenges, one was not knowing English. The struggle of having friends, learning english and trying to adapt to her new environment caused her to go through Depression. Although she wanted to be left alone but she was not enjoying it so one day she decided to change. She joined Chichaklar Azari dance classes and after about two months of rehearsal she was ready to perform on stage for Persian New Year (Norooz). It was at that event that her photo was taken and posted on BBC’s first page as an introduction of the Norooz events in Vancouver. She then started her solo dances which are mostly choreographed by her Mom and after about a year Registered Anahita Arts and Culture Group. Lia organized and taught the first dance club at her high school and participated at Port Moody Youth Arts Festival where she was ranked one of the top 5 artists out of 40 participants.


Work

Lia is currently employed at TD Canada Trust Bank as a Customer Service Representative. She is also the founder of Anahita Cultural Group , Along with her mom Zohreh Aramian, which includes Dance,Theatre and music. She choreographs duets for wedding, bridesmaids dance as well as professional solo dances for private classes. She is also a part of Polonez dance Group-Polish and enjoys creating a bridge between her eastern and western culture in her choreography.


Volunteering

Lia signed her first official contract for performing Arts in 2011 for a Cancer society in Vancouver-Canada. since 2011 Lia has been involved in many arts and cultural events in different communities as a volunteer such as : S.U.C.C.E.S.S, Tri-cities Iranian Society, Asian Heritage ExploreAsian, Hafez Literature Club, CIF BC, Pardis Charity, Coast Salish multicultural event, Port moody Youth Arts Festival and many more.

She is also the founder of Anahita Cultural Group , Along with her mom Zohreh Aramian, which includes Dance,Theatre and music. She choreographs duets for wedding, bridesmaids dance as well as professional solo dances or private classes.
